I was the first in the family to pick up the new version of Pokémon for the DS. The version I purchased was Diamond. Some time later, I purchased Pearl and much later, Platinum right after it was released. This past weekend, I purchased another copy of Platinum during the Rotom Key event at Toys R Us.
This Key allows you to transform your Rotom into one of 5 different forms: Fridge (Ice), Washing Machine (Water), Lawn Mower (Grass), Fan (Flying).
So anyways, I was taking our first copy of Pokémon Platinum to Toys R Us to get the Key and it just so happens that Platinum was discounted by $5 dollars on this weekend as well. I figured that I might as well buy a copy so that we can get two keys instead of one!
After a weekend of playing my copy of Platinum, I ended up with all three starter Pokémon (Piplup, Turtwig, Chimchar) in my party. I'm having lots of fun with Platinum, however, I'm eager to go back and get all the rewards from past Mystery Gift events. I will have to investigate how to achieve that. :)

Prism for Nintendo DS
I picked up Prism for the DS for only $9.99 at GameStop, figuring that even if it wasn't all that great, I wouldn't be out much cash.
It's actually a pretty decent game. The puzzles are challenging, and there are a lot of them.
I ended up giving it to my son because it's not my kind of puzzle game (I like puzzles like Tetris and MahJong), and he loves it.
Well worth $9.99.

Nintendo DSi at Midnight
Yes, my husband is going to go pick up his DSi at midnight.
I wonder if he'll be the only 38-year-old there.

DSi Update
I've preordered my DSi from GameStop last night. I asked at the counter which of the two models were the most requested and the response was the Black one. Funny, I thought that the Light Blue one would be more popular due to it having more character. Which one did I get? The Light Blue one of course! I can't wait to try it out on Sunday.
(Don't tell anyone, but I also preordered Rhythm Heaven at the same time!)
There's a launch event going on at Universal CityWalk's GameStop store. It will be on Saturday, April 4, 2009 between 9pm and Midnight. The flier says that there will be Live Entertainment, "Interactive Units", Prizes and Giveaways. I attended the World of Warcraft Burning Crusade release party over there and it was great fun. I highly recommend attending if you are able.

History of Pokemon Scandals
This is a nifty collection of all the scandals these poor little innocent Pokemon have been through!
Warning: If you have epilepsy, don't go to this page. It gives an example of the images that caused epileptic seizures in the cartoons.

Platinum Not Compatible with Pokemon Ranch
Well, it turns out that the American version of the Pokemon Platinum is not compatible with Pokemon Ranch.
There are some rumors here and there that the update will come out in the next few days. Others say that it will be a couple months.
In the meantime, I'll save up my pokemon to deposit on the Ranch when the update comes through.

Pokemon Ranch for the Wii
We discovered Pokemon Ranch for the Wii today! How completely and totally adorable. Every day, the ranch hand brings a new pokemon to hang out with the Miis at the ranch. We can also transfer pokemon from our Diamond or Pearl games. The ranch goes up levels, giving us more space to play with the pokemon. And our friends on the Wii network can visit us.
All the kids love it. But my daughter is completely in love. And when we found out that we can make the pokemon go on parade, with streaming confetti, she just about lost it.
Our daughter's love for Pokemon is just about the cutest thing on the planet.

Pokemon MMORPG?
Wouldn't it be cool if there was an official Pokemon online role playing game? Well, unfortunately, there isn't one being developed any time soon. I bet it would be more popular than Webkinz or Club Penguin.

Pokemon Platinum Launch Party Spectacular in New York
If you are lucky enough to live in New York, and you're a Pokemon fan, there's a party waiting for you!
On March 21st at the Pokemon World Store in Rockefeller Plaza, at 12-4, you can experience Pokemon in full force! They are even encouraging people to come dressed up as their favorite Pokemon character.
We're on the west coast, so we're not going to be there, unfortunately. If we lived in or near New York, we would definitely be partying with all the other Pokemon fans.

Nintendo DS Used as Teaching Tools in Japanese Schools
I've often marveled at the number of educational titles available for the DS. Now a handful of Japanese schools have decided to include them in their curriculum.
Go Japan!

Pokemon Platinum Official Game Guide
If you pre-ordered Pokemon platinum, like us, don't forget to get the official game guide.
Although I don't like to use the game guides when I first start playing the Pokemon adventures, my kids like to read all about the secrets. So, when I get stuck, I'll ask my daughter and she'll know exactly how to get through an area or to get a special pokemon.
Sometimes it's nice when our kids know more than we do.

Free Pokemon Game Online - Pokemon Indigo
Well this looks snazzy! A free, online pokemon game. It's called Pokemon Indigo. It doesn't require downloads, and it doesn't matter which system or browser you use (according to the site).
Have you played it? Any good? I hope my daughter doesn't see this, or I might have to peel her off the computer.

Nintendo DSi
April 5th is rapidly approaching. What is significant on this day? Well, that's the day of the US release of the Nintendo DSi!
Our family already owns 3 DS Lites and yet, I am excited about possibly obtaining one of the new US exclusive light blue DSi models. The unfortunate issue with the DSi is that there is no support for older original GameBoy or GameBoy Advance titles. But no matter!
Why do I desire one? Well it's NEW! And it has 2 built in cameras! And And... It's NEW! (and i have some GameStop credit that I can't figure out how to use)
So, call to action time. Everyone who likes NEW things and devices that have 2 built in cameras, do like I do and help the economy by buying a Nintendo DSi! It is guaranteed to bring moments of happiness!

Trading Pokemon on the Nintendo DS
This nice guy is offering his pokemon to people over wifi. I'm having trouble understanding how this works. I can hook up to other DS' with wifi, but is there some central network or something?
Anyone know how I can get a "box" from this person offering to trade his pokemon?
Thanks!

Pokemon Master Trainer Game
I saw a review for Pokemon Master Trainer and thought that maybe there was a new Pokemon board game available.
It's actually from 2001, and they are trying to sell it for $100! We've had a copy of this game for a long time. We found it at a garage sale for $1. Anyone wanna buy it from us for half the price of this other guy?
Seriously, though, it's not that great of a game, but the kids *love* it. So if you can find a cheap copy, and you have a Pokemon fan in the house, it's worth it.
Amazon has some copies for only $15. Maybe that's a good way to go if you can't find one at a garage sale.

What Does Pokemon Platinum Look Like?
I was wondering if Pokemon Platinum for the DS will be just like all the other Pokemons. Well, it looks like they kept the classic Pokemon feel, but upgraded the graphics. Maybe even has some 3D effects going on. Can't wait!

Pokemon Platinum For You and Me - NOT!
For some reason, we had it in our head that the Pokemon Platinum was released yesterday. Imagine my bummed-outed-ness when I discovered that it's not due out until March 22nd.
Actually, I'm surprised at how bummed I am. I thought I was done with Pokemon and this game was for my hubby and daughter. Hmmm...

Noby Noby Boy Totally Crazy, Confusing, and Oh So Cool
Have you seen previews of Noby Noby Boy yet? It's from the creator of Katamari Damacy, one of the best games evah.
Don't ask me what Noby Noby Boy is about or what the point of the game is, cuz I don't know. But here's what I do know: I showed it to my husband and kids, and they were all ga-ga over it. My husband's eyes were sparkling over it.
And you can't beat the price? I don't think so.
Who says a game has to make sense to be fun?

Wii Fit No Good for Fitness?
There has been some criticism of the Wii Fit, saying that it's not a good tool for fitness because people don't stick to it.
First of all, any form of exercise is not effective if you don't stick with it. So duh.
But, beyond that, is it worth sticking to? Is it compelling enough?
Our kids certainly lost interest in it, especially when it was competing with Super Monkey Ball and Mario Kart.
So we bought My Fitness Coach, and told them it was part of their homeschooling. They could play My Fitness Coach or Wii Fit, but no other video games until they were done with their work.
Well, they like it so far! My Fitness Coach seems to have a lot more variety of exercises, but it doesn't have "games". So having both fitness programs gives them a choice.
So far, they are a good pair, and fun. I think that one could easily stick to a routine with one of these games if it fits their fitness interests, and they like to workout at home. And it certainly gets the kids off the couch and using muscles other than their fingers.

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure for the DS
I asked my son if there are any DS games he's looking forward to getting. "Henry Hatsworth," he said.
I had no idea what it was. In the most recent issue of GameInformer, there is a mini-preview of it, and a full-page ad. It is a cross between action and puzzle game that has yet to see the DS scene.
It's only $29.99, and it has a lot of promise. I'll be looking out for it in March at GameStop.
